I first picked up Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire because my boss/friend told me how great these books were. I didn’t realize there were three books that came before it. I went out and bought the first three the next weekend. I love books about magic and Harry Potter is no different. I read the first page out loud to my husband who then demanded I read the rest to him. That was our pattern throughout the entire series. We’d reserve the next book, then I’d spend the next week reading it out loud to him.
Witches, wizards, giants, ghosts, werewolves and lots of magick. So many things going on that will appeal to so many different readers. I cried when I reached the last page of the last book. I love the way J.K. Rowling turned kids back onto reading. If you haven’t gotten into the Harry Potter series yet, I encourage you to try it. I don’t have children. I bought these books for the sheer delight of reading what kind of trouble Harry, Ron, Hermione and friends could find at Hogwarts. And I re-read them for the same reason… once a year, out loud to my husband.
