Martini Club 4 – The 1920s
In 2010, myself and three writer friends—Amanda McCabe, Kathy L Wheeler, and Krysta Scott—began meeting each Friday evening for Martinis and various other libations at the Martini Lounge in Edmond, Oklahoma. In time, we came to dub our gatherings the ‘Martini Club.’  During one of these get-togethers, an idea was tossed around to write stories centered around a Martini Lounge-like establishment. The idea blossomed from there, and the ‘Martini Club 4’ series was born.Â
Each of us have written our own, stand-alone novella, but the girls from each are friends, and they interact in one another’s stories. This first series is set in the 1920’s, and the next will be set in the 40’s.Â
My BAFF’s (Best Author Friends Forever) and I had a blast brainstorming and creating the MC4 Vintage Historical Romances over drinks and during a few out of town retreats (over drinks, as well 🙂).Â

Left to Right: Krysta Scott, Amanda McCabe, Kathy L Wheeler, Alicia Dean

- About the Author
- Posts in the Past
Award-winning, multi-published author Alicia Dean began writing stories as a child. At age 11, she wrote her first ever romance (featuring a hero who looked just like Elvis Presley, and who happened to share the name of Elvis’ character in the movie, Tickle Me), and she still has the tattered, pencil-written copy. Alicia is from Moore, Oklahoma and now lives in Edmond. She has three grown children and a huge network of supportive friends and family. She writes mostly contemporary suspense and paranormal, but has also written in other genres, including a few vintage historicals. She is a freelance editor in addition to being an editor for The Wild Rose Press.
Other than reading and writing, her passions are Elvis Presley, MLB, NFL (she usually works in a mention of one or all three into her stories) and watching her favorite televisions shows like Vampire Diaries, Justified, Sons of Anarchy, Haven, New Girl, The Mindy Project, and Dexter (even though it has sadly ended, she will forever be a fan). Some of her favorite authors are Michael Connelly, Dennis Lehane, Lee Child, Lisa Gardner, Sharon Sala, Jordan Dane, Ridley Pearson, Joseph Finder, and Jonathan Kellerman…to name a few.
Great post! Love the covers. (and the BAFF’s expression- too cute! 🙂
Loved all four of these books–the way the stories and characters intertwine. And is each a great story on its own. I’ve never been much of a fan of fiction set in that era, but I found myself intrigued by some of the slang and fashions. Great series.
I so loved RUINED and I have the others on my Kindle waiting for those lottery numbers to fall right so that I can have the time I deserve to live my life of leisure. I guess I need to actually buy a ticket. Sigh. Too much work. Until somebody knocks on my door with those millions, then… Thank you for providing the material that gets me dreaming! Best wishes!
Fabulous!!!!
I loved these stories. Recommend them to everyone.
Sounds like you guys have so much fun with this. I’ve only collaborated with other authors online. Over martinis would be better! LOL Best of luck, ladies!
Haha, Maureen, I coined that phrase myself, but feel free to use it. 😉 Thank you for stopping by!
Aw,thanks, Leah. I’m glad our efforts to intertwine worked out. 🙂 I didn’t think I was a fan of the era until recently. Now, I think it’s so much fun!
Uh yeah, MJ. I know what you mean about needing a lotto win to be able to relax and read and have time for all kinds of things we don’t have time for now. If they knock on your door, you be sure to let me know. 😉 Thank you! So glad you enjoyed Ruined. The others are great stories!
Glad you stopped by, Kathy!
Wow, Barbara. Thank you! That’s one of the highest compliments we can receive…a recommendation. 🙂 I appreciate you stopping by!
We had a ball! And, there’s more to come with our 40s stories. Uh yeah, martinis make everything more fun! 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!
Fabulous friends write fabulous books! You go, girls!
LOVE these covers and fascinated with 1920s. Super combo for books!
What a nice post! The covers are well-done and mess so well.
Alicia, love the photo of the four of you! You ladies have waaaayy too much fun! 😀 I adore the fashion of the 1920’s! Your book covers display that period so nicely!
Agreed, Joy. I’m fairly certain it states clearly in the International Behaviour Guide for Successful Authors that excessive celebration and flagrant happiness is definitely prohibited (unless, of course, you are Nora Roberts, who can do any damn thing she wants, Sharon Sala, currently in NYC at the RWA Conference doing all of the above, and James Patterson, who it’s questionable that he writes his own books even). So, BAFF, in the future, you better just watch your Qs and Ps. Hmph!
