Writing a BDSM black-comedy novella was the most wicked fun I’ve ever had. Powerplay came out of nowhere and surprised the hell out of me. I'd never thought of writing a BDSM story, let alone one that deals with the psychological ramifications of what happens between a dom on a powertrip and a sub ready to change it all. I still don’t know what my muse was doing the day I wrote this. I suspect he’d gone on an unscheduled holiday and the muse in my mind at the time was a very naughty temp.
When offering me a contract for Powerplay, Joel Naoum from Momentum Publishing called it "insane". I'm taking that adjective as a big compliment. Who wants to read something sane, right? When it comes to BDSM erotica, insane is good, yes?
Researching the BDSM elements of Powerplay proved veeeeery interesting. As did explaining my Google history to my husband when my laptop became "stuck" on one of those sites. What was just as interesting was researching the mind set of a pychopath. Why was I researching a pychopath for a BDSM erotica novella? Ahhh, I wish I could say, but the best I can do is tell you to take a look at the subject of this blog post. It's a clue. A really BIG clue.
If I had to describe Powerplay in two sentences I'd do it this way: A darkly humorous investigation into the power-play of a power couple, complete with an escaped con, a secluded cottage and a glass dildo.
Yes, it's that kind of book. And it begins this way…
Buck naked, the chilly night air kissing his hot flesh, Brad Tellerman dropped his clothes into the stagnant creek.
Powerplay releases in January and I can't say enough how honoured I am to be a part of the Hot Down Under anthology from Momentum. The other authors in this series of amazing books are truly truly talented…and all just a little bit naughty. Gotta love that, right?

Lexxie Couper started writing when she was six and hasn’t stopped since. She’s not a deviant, but she does have a deviant’s imagination and a desire to entertain readers with her words. Add the two together and you get erotic romances that can make you laugh, cry, shake with fear or tremble with desire. Sometimes all at once.
When she’s not submerged in the worlds she creates, Lexxie’s life revolves around her family, a husband who thinks she’s insane, a indoor cat who likes to stalk shadows, and her daughters, who both utterly captured her heart and changed her life forever.

Sounds great Lexxie!
Ooooh, Lexxie, that sounds like a super fun story and I'm kind of glad you got a naughty-temp-muse that day 🙂 Can't wait to read it!

Wow Lex, sounds awesome, can't wait to read it and find out what happens with the convict angle.
This is a hilarious little blurg. I think more BDSM should have humor! I look forward to reading!
Wow! Lexxie doing psychopath and BDSM sounds like a winner to me. Can't wait to read it 🙂
Awesome, so looking forward to reading this, Lexxie.
Whoa. Lexxie, you always manage to knock my socks off 😉
Love reading a good BDSM story Lexxie 🙂
Lex, you write on such varied subjects- your talent is over abundant. I follow the BDSM, Cougar Challenge, Aussies Down Under, and the Bandicoot to name a few. This BDSM story sounds interesting, except for the glass dildo- I have nightmares of it breaking.
