The idea of a twinned soul grew out of watching a hawk play tag with the clouds and a long-held desire to fly. Much of the story of Dragon Destiny unfolded while sitting on a porch of a log-cabin or on a lakeside dock and listening to Celtic music. It was originally a short story, but the characters refused to leave and the world expanded to encompass four novels and a companion book.
An energetic five-year-old helped the muse create one of the main characters. The hardest part of writing the Dragshi Chronicles was the aging of Anastasia. I first met her when I wrote a short story for a writing course. In that work, she was a teenager who had lost her mother. The inspiration was a younger girl whose mother was serving overseas. In the novel, Anastasia is older than when I first met her and she ages from a young woman to a vibrant adult. The transition finalized in my mind when I received the cover for Dragon Destiny and saw her portrait by Fantasia Frog Designs. The ultimate compliment came from Anastasia’s great-grandmother who looked at the pose and attitude and stated, “That’s Anastasia.”
Dragon Destiny – For a human, a dragon form comes with more than just the freedom of the sky.
Branin is the last dragon shifter born in over three hundred years. As a dragshi, he can take the form of his dragon soul twin, Llewlyn and knows the freedom of flight, but not happiness. Both are the last of their kind and have waited millennia for their mates. When a faint thought impinged on Branin’s mind, hope for an ending to eons of loneliness soared. Plagued by doubts because no signs of a dragon shifter’s birth have been seen, he searches the world for the mysterious girl he only knows by the name, Anastasia.
However, the firebrand raider, Lady Broch of Ky’port has her own plan–to wed the dragon lord — with or without his willing cooperation. And she will not tolerate anyone, not even a dragon lord or his twinned soul, from standing in her way.

I’m a former feature-story writer and correspondent, but my first love is fiction. The descendent of a coal-miner’s daughter and an aviation flight engineer, my writing reflects the contrasts of my heritage and crosses genres from historical adventures and westerns to science fiction and fantasy. In the world of fantasy romance, I am the author of the Dragshi Chronicles and The Windmaster Novels. My stand-alone novels include the dragon magic fantasy, Fire and Amulet, and the dark fantasy, Imprisoned in Stone.

A Little Info on Your Guide to Flights of Imagination — My writing crosses genres and types, from romantic fantasy to historical documentaries. As a person, I have tried to find a balance between my typical Gemini characteristics. My heritage is also a reflection of contrasts. I grew up knowing the simple life on a small rural farm, yet my professional career was designing computers. My husband of 30-plus years and I lived in a small town just across the Raritan Bay from where the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center stood. My hobbies are simple, walking or biking around town, especially when there is a town-wide yard sale. Thank you for visiting and allowing me the opportunity to say hi. Bye for now. Helen
