One of the biggest, most sensationalized and controversial series out on the market today is the Harry Potter Series by J. K. Rowling. http://www.jkrowling.com/. We cannot forget about the little boy with the lightning bolt on his face and rumors of him somehow destroying “He Who Must Not Be Named” when he was just a year old. Whether you have only seen the movies or not even that, these books are ones that even adults find themselves hunting for at midnight when the books go on sale. My husband and I are huge fans of the series and even though the movies do not come close to what is in the book, we have to see the movies to relive our favorite parts. And the fact that this is one of the series we come back to time and again and read over and over again tells you something. If you have not read Harry Potter, I suggest you do because it will grab you from the beginning and never let go!

When Goblet of Fire came out, my friend (and boss) told me about this series of books. I thought about it for awhile then picked up the Goblet. I read the first sentence on the very first page, turned to Smurf and read it aloud to him. That weekend we went out and bought the first 3. Every release after that? We stand in line with all of the others waiting to get our hands on the copy we reserved in advance. The boy with the lightning shaped scar has added a whole new dimension to our lives.
I remember when we first picked up the books to. It was when the first movie was being released and they started showing the previews on television. Up to that point we hadn’t even really heard about Harry Potter in our community. But once we got a taste of the first book, we were all for them. Kimberly, if you like these you should check out Percy Jackson series as well as Artemis Fowl series if you haven’t.
